New Student Orientation Welcome Week

What is International Student Orientation?

International orientation is a series of events that helps you get familiar with the University of the Fraser Valley. You get to learn all about classes, programs, and life in Canada. And you also make lots of new friends!

Orientation for international students is required, as you need to check in with your documents (study permit).

Fall 2018 Dates and Times

Check-in

Location: Global Lounge, Building B, room 223
Time:

  • Arrive to check in between 9:30 am-11:30 am
  • Lunch provided between 10:30 am-12:30 pm
  • Afternoon sessions 12:30-4:00 pm

Date: Choose from one of our three check-in dates! 

  • Wednesday, August 29
  • Thursday, August 30

Where is International Student Orientation taking place?

International Student Orientation takes place in various locations on the UFV Abbotsford campus. New students will receive an email with more information as the date draws closer.

Should you arrive on campus and be unsure of next steps, please come to UFV International's office, located in room B223. Volunteers will be on hand to help direct you.

What do we do at International Student Orientation?

International orientation are days full of information and fun! Here are just some of what you can expect at international orientation:

  • Check in with your study permit & passport.
  • Eat delicious food.
  • Meet new friends and your orientation student leaders, the Global Engagement Volunteers.
  • Participate in a UFV campus tour
  • Learn about UFV resources.
  • Learn about life in Canada — in class, at work, and in the community.
  • Use your UFV student email and find out your classes.
  • Attend in immigration and career workshops.
  • Participate in fun evening activities (dance, field-trip).

Description

UFV is awesome! It provides small classrooms for better student and prof interaction. You can get involved in clubs and associations. And if you have any problems, there are always helpful staff members who will support you.
